PETA is once again bringing their spay/neuter mobile clinic to Danville. Surgeries will be performed on September 29, September 30, and October 1. Cat surgeries are $15 and dog surgeries $15. Scholarships are available for those who may not be able to afford that.

Appointments will begin being scheduled on Wednesday, August 24th. Call 799-0843.

This program is available for residents of Danville or Pittsylvania County. There is a limit of two surgeries per household. The animals must be brought in by the owner. No animals adopted from any other group or shelter will be put on the schedule; they have their own programs.

No animal with a history of a heart murmur, seizures, skin issues, or other heath issues will be accepted. The animal cannot be taking any medication.

All animals must be at least 3 months old, with a weight between 3 pounds and 80 pounds.

Purebred flat-faced dog breeds cannot be accepted; mixes will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Rottweilers and Dobermans cannot be accepted, due to the increased risk of anesthesia for those breeds.

The age limit is 7-8 years, based on evaluation and the willingness of the guardian to sign a high-risk waiver.
